Sir,

We read with interest the case report of Kartagener's syndrome (KS) reported by Potdar et al. [1] Dextrocardia in the chest radiograph raises the possibility of KS and further workup as 20-25% of Situs inversus is associated with the primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD). [2] This article does not have the photograph of chest X-ray of the patient even though it is referred to in the text. This autosomal recessive disorder presenting at the age of 60 years indicate a very mild phenotype. Four PCD loci, which are responsible for structural abnormalities of dynein arms of cilia, have been identified. They are DHAH 5 on chromosome 5p15; CILD2 on 19q, 16p12, 15q13-15; DNA11 on 9p13-21; DNAH11 on 7p15. [3] The association of KS with diffuse Bronchiolitis over and above bronchiectasis have been reported from Japan and India. [4],[5]

(In the case report by Potdar et al., [1] chest X-ray has been mentioned to have revealed dextrocardia while computed tomography of chest confirming dextrocardia has been illustrated. The editors appreciate the additional insights provided by the authors of this Letters to the Editor).
